  3. Who can attend the Bob Hope School?

     

    Children entering PreK 3* through 2nd grade in the fall of 2023 who live within Goose Creek ISD, Deer Park ISD, Pasadena ISD, Channelview ISD, Sheldon ISD and Galena Park ISD.

  4. When does enrollment open for Bob Hope School Baytown?

     

    January 2023

     

  5. Am I guaranteed enrollment or will there be a lottery to get in?

     

    All students who apply will be entered into a lottery. The lottery will go into effect on April 1st, 2023.

     

  6. Is the Bob Hope School free to attend?

     

    Yes, the Bob Hope School is a tuition-free, public charter school.

     

  7. How is the school funded?

     

    Public charter schools receive money from the state of Texas based enrollment and attendance. Unlike traditional ISDs, which are funded through state and local taxes, public charter schools receive only state funding and no local funds from property taxes.

     

  8. Do your students get vouchers for tuition?

     

    Vouchers are not needed because the Bob Hope School is a public charter school, FREE for all students.

     

  9. Do the students get free lunch and breakfast?

     

    Yes, all students receive free lunch and breakfast.

     

  10. Is there a uniform policy?

     

    Yes, students at all grade levels are required to dress in uniform.

     

  11. Where do we get the uniforms and how much do they cost?

     

    Parents are sent to our uniform provider to purchase required pieces. The average set of uniform clothes costs $75 per student. We will open a uniform store in the summer of 2023 before school starts for parents to come and order.

     

  12. Is there a backpack policy?

     

    Yes, all students need to carry a clear or mesh backpack for the safety of other students and staff.

     

  13. Do you accept students with disabilities?

     

    Yes, the Bob Hope School accepts all students who go through the lottery system for enrollment.

     

  14. What are the school hours?

     

    The school day starts at 8 AM and lasts until 4 PM. There is also a tutoring program from 4 PM – 5 PM that will be required for selected students.

     

  15. Is there an after-school program?

     

    Yes, the Bob Hope School has a free after-school program from 4 PM until 7 PM.

     

  16. What enrichment activities do you have?

     

    All students start playing violin in 1st grade, start learning Mandarin Chinese in pre-Kindergarten, and follow a dual-language program learning in English and Spanish.

     

  17. How does the dual-language program work?

     

    Students starting in pre-Kindergarten will learn in both English and Spanish. They learn one day in English and the next day in Spanish, building on the material from the day before.

     

  18. Will you teach Critical Race Theory?

 

            No, we follow the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum.
